An Idea for an In-Store Application (previous blog on Postach.io)

An Idea for an In-Store Application Published by Joel Delizo, March 22nd, 2014 Last night, my partner and I went shopping for our new apartment at IKEA and Rona. At IKEA, we made our way through the familiar arrowed maze. I made a shopping list in Evernote, and we were ready to hunt down those items on our list. My partner and I knew where these items were located, so we breezed through the lanes as usual. When we came to shop at Rona, however, we had to check the aisles. As we slowly hunted down items and crossed them off our list, this thought popped into my head: if we only had an application that shows us where items are located in the store. Admittedly, this might not be an original idea and this application may already exist somewhere in the world, but imagine what this application can do and mean for shoppers. First I envision this application to work once you enter a store--I'll use Rona, a hardware store, as an example. As soon as you walk in you could be connected to their application via wi-fi, but this application could be connected with their store in particular. You could search for items and find where they're located in the store. Furthermore, you could see in the application how many of this item are instock. If the store is out of the item you're looking for, the application could tell you where you could find the item at the closest Rona or you could order it online. Think how this application could be helpful at the supermarket, COSTCO, malls (as a directory)...especially the supermarket!
